The “Spring House” is located near the Civil War monument in Old Live Oak Cemetery at Selma. This name came from the old practice of having band concerts and Memorial Day programs here each spring. This building is also commonly referred to as the “Pigeon House” because of the many birds that roosted in its gables.

Old Live Oak is a beautiful and historic cemetery. It contains many beautiful monuments among huge oaks and magnolias that are draped in Spanish moss. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage. The cemetery is located beside Dallas Avenue approximately 0.7 mile west of downtown Selma. (GPS coordinates: 32.405346,-87.0313). Tour maps of the cemetery are available at the Selma Welcome Center located at downtown Selma on Broad Street.
