This website is dedicated to twelve counties located in southwest Alabama – Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Sumter, Washington, and Wilcox. This area includes a large portion of Alabama’s Black Belt. The region is known for its rich and diverse heritage, historic homes and churches, and its natural beauty.

The purpose of this website is for documentation of historic and interesting places that you will find in this area of Alabama. There are now about 600 sites posted on this website. The Region Map on the Home Page shows all of the sites. Zoom in on the map to view sites in the towns.
