Huntington Watters House at Marion, AL (ca. 1835)
This home was constructed by John Huntington ca. 1835. The basement of the house served as Confederate headquarters for General Nathan Bedford Forrest. General Forrest left accounts of the war written on the basement walls.
This home is included in the West Marion Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located on the south side of Lafayette Street approximately 0.4 mile west of the intersection of Lafayette Street and Washington Street in Marion, AL (GPS coordinates N32.630864,W87.326546).
